Success with history
Rudolf Leiner Senior bought the Leiner flagship store on Rathausplatz in St. Pölten in 1910, thus laying the foundations for the success story. In 1973, Dr Herbert Koch, son-in-law of Rudolf Leiner Junior and current Chairman of the Supervisory Board, opened the first kika furniture store. The concept was new, promising and followed the trend of self-collection. Customers could take their furniture with them and assemble it themselves - a van could be hired cheaply for large items - thus saving on transport costs. This "cash and carry" concept was revolutionary and extremely successful in Austria. The initial take-away market quickly became a "full-service" furniture store with a comprehensive range of products and services, ranging from the entry-level price segment to high-end ranges.

The product range in the kika furniture stores comprises more than 50,000 items for all needs and all price ranges. From practical accessories to high-tech complete solutions, our customers will find a wide range of products. Under the motto "Everything from a single source", we also offer a complete service that includes delivery, assembly, measuring, planning, return of old furniture, water and electricity installation and much more.

Due to the economic and political development in Central and Eastern Europe and the expansion of the European Union, the kika Group is growing continuously. kika has developed an integrated concept that is customised for consumers in Central and Eastern Europe: beautiful living and individual furnishing - furnishing solutions and home accessories for every taste and every budget. In this way, different market segments can be served, jobs are created and local producers are brought in as suppliers. Large shopping agglomerations are favoured when selecting locations. The construction work will be carried out in co-operation with local companies.
