Orienteering is a sport that combines athletic fitness with skill and tactics. Using a detailed map, the aim is to navigate along a predetermined course. In addition to physical strength, the most important qualities of a good orienteer are racing tactics and interpretation skills.

The sport originates from the Scandinavian countries where it has always been practised as a popular sport. Major Finnish and Swedish events attract well over ten thousand athletes every year who dedicate themselves to the sport over several days.

In Austria, too, this sport is attracting more and more enthusiasts to the beautiful, unspoilt forests of our country.
